My own company · Brooklyn, New York
Pierrepont makes hand-painted needlepoint canvases, kits and finishing. It is my own company, and the place every package on the Services page was built before it was offered to anyone else.

The name:
Everinscription was named for lettering — the wedding stationery the studio opened with — and by the time the canvases were what people came for, it was advertising work the company no longer did. Renamed Pierrepont, after a street in Brooklyn Heights, then filed with an attorney and changed over across every account, label and invoice with the shop open throughout.
The shops:
Pierrepont sold direct, and only direct. A shop had nothing to order from: no wholesale price, no minimum, no line sheet, and an empty Faire account to look at. The pricing came first, because every order after it is settled there — then the catalog, the storefront, a researched list of stores, and four letters.
Seventy shops in twenty-six states now, from Charleston to Milwaukee. Three sit within a mile of each other in Charlottesville, which is how I learned that stockists cluster.
The library:
A beginner meets mesh count, blocking and basketweave on a product page, decides she will get it wrong, and closes the tab. The Library answers her before the listings do: a glossary, a stitch guide, a shelf of first canvases. Then the kits shipped with the threads already chosen, so the product solved it too.
The second sale:
A worked canvas is half an object until it is blocked and constructed, and customers were stalling exactly there — a finished piece in a drawer for a year. Finishing, built as a product line: six treatments, priced by the longest dimension, return postage included, a stated turnaround.
